About Sonal

Sonal Patel, MS, is an empathic licensed professional counselor (LPC), passionate about creating a safe space and providing support to her clients as they navigate life’s challenges. She utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), attachment-based therapy, and motivational interviewing to aid in the treatment of emotional and behavioral concerns in children, adolescents, and adults at Dr. Messina & Associates, in Flower Mound, TX and in Southlake, TX.

Sonal earned a Master of Science degree in clinical counseling from Emporia State University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Oklahoma. She began her career in Kansas, gaining experience in private practice, community-based services, and youth in foster care. She specializes in anxiety, depression, life transitions, adolescent emotional and behavioral problems, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and eating disorders. Sonal is a licensed professional counselor in Texas and Kansas.

Additionally, Sonal volunteers in her local community, raising funds for school supply donations and aided in creating workshops for students to help utilize coping skills for anxiety. Sonal appreciates the arts and enjoys watching indie movies and scrapbooking. She has a passion for living a healthy lifestyle and loves hiking and biking.
