About Brittain
Brittain West, MS, is a skilled and empathetic licensed professional counselor with over 15 years of experience, who uses cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and solution focused brief therapy (SBFT) to tailor treatment to each individual’s goals. He works with children, adolescents, and adults with various emotional and behavior problems at Dr. Messina & Associates, in Flower Mound, TX and in Southlake, TX.
Brittain creates an inviting atmosphere to welcome individuals of all backgrounds into the therapeutic process. He specializes in treating depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, substance abuse issues, life transitions, and relationship/marriage issues. He also treats additional childhood specific disorders that result in disturbances at school and home, such as oppositional defiant disorder (ODD).
Brittain is originally from western Kentucky where he served his community through various ministry positions. He earned a Master of Science degree in Clinical Counseling from Freed-Hardeman University, where he was a founding member and president of the Alpha Chi honors society. Brittain is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas and Kentucky.
In addition to his clinical experience, Brittain has conducted trainings for clinicians and first responders on a wide range of emotional and behavioral disorders. He has also supervised numerous counseling associates for their independent counseling license.
